360 Sugar Free Market – All Diets Rejoice!
Christy Varney, founder of 360 Sugar Free Market in Kittery, Maine, follows a keto diet. That means gluten free, sugar free, high fat, and low carb. After a strenuous year of baking, cooking and ordering online to find appropriate foods, it occurred to her that she wasn’t the only person with this problem. So she decided to solve it by opening a small market catering to special diets.
360 Sugar Free opened on February 1st of this year with a wide inventory of sugar-free items for those seeking gluten-free, keto, low carb, and paleo foods and ingredients.  This includes candy, chocolate chips, breads, salad dressings, sauces and more. Christy even bakes keto treats in her dedicated gluten-free/sugar-free kitchen located right inside the store! She notes that none of the products they sell contain chemical sweetners, and they only use erythritol for their baked goods, which are in very high demand. She also lists the grams of carbs, protein, and fats per serving for her store-baked treats, which vary daily.
The store was an immediate hit, drawing all types of customers and diets, including Type 1 and Type 2 diabetics, those who are gluten sensitive and celiac, low carb and more. 360 Sugar Free does carry some pre-packaged sugar-free breads that are not gluten free, as well as small number of gluten-free items that are not sugar free. But the kitchen is 100% dedicated gluten free, so you’re safe here! You can drop in for a snack, order full trays of treats, or pick up sugar-free cocktail sauce for your next party. Â Christy’s mail order business is strong, so she’s considering a second location closer to Boston to reach more folks in need of products like hers. (We’re gluten-free parents of a teen with Type 1 Diabetes, so we hope she opens lots more locations!)
