Heading to NYC? Stop here first!
It’s that time of year again when many of us travel into NYC for shows, festivities and most importantly, FOOD. Whether you’re heading in for a day, a weekend or more, it pays to plan ahead, especially if you have celiac disease, gluten sensitivity, and other food allergies. We’re heading in with the kids next week and can’t wait to check out some great GF eats ourselves.
Here’s a list of our favorite resources for eating safely in the city. And, if you have a specific question, ask our long-time pal and celiac NY resident Erin Smith of Gluten-Free Globetrotter!
Erin Smith, Gluten-Free Globetrotter
Know what we love most about Erin? She’s she’s been celiac since childhood, she’s lived in NYC for most of her life, and she’s an expert on eating safety in the city. Her list of dedicated GF places is up to date, and she works hard to keep it that way. She even includes places that have closed!
Jodi Ettenberg, Legal Nomads
This recently updated list by celiac Jodi Ettenberg includes places in NYC that are dedicated GF but also some that are not, detailing what she orders and how they accommodate her.
Eater New York
Another updated list of restaurants that are safe for celiacs, including more that are not dedicated GF, but still safe.
Laura, My Gluten Free Guide
Laura is a celiac traveler based in London, but she sure does know NYC. She’s got a list of GF/celiac safe restaurants, bakeries and hotels, including one with celiac-safe room service from Friedman’s!
Vegan Ice Cream
It may be December, but we’re always in the mood for vegan ice cream. Check out Spoon University’s list of the best places to find it in NYC!
