The Holy Donut

No trip to Portland is complete without a treat from The Holy Donut. Prepared separately in dedicated fryers and overseen by a supervisor with celiac disease, these donuts are EVERYTHING. They even use local ingredients, including Maine potatoes. And, they’ve been tested at 2ppm. Not a dedicated GF facility, but they really take their gluten-free protocol seriously. Rotating flavors; call before you go. Stores close when they sell out, and they do sell out.

Kane’s Donuts

Kanes is Boston’s gluten-free donut gem. With locations in the heart of the city and in Saugus, they always have at least two GF flavors available, including a flavor-of-the-month. They prepare them separately, fry them separately, and you’d never notice that the gluten is missing. And, Kane’s is always working on new products, like the recently introduced GF cinnamon and sugar donut, which is dusted instead of dipped. Dusted instead of dipped may sound small, but it’s HUGE to us!
