Eating gluten free doesn’t always mean eating healthy, but dedicated GF Superfresh! Organic Cafe in Brattleboro, VT makes sure of it. Â Their mission is to “change the way we eat, how we think about food, and how consumption impacts our health and that of the planet.” How are they doing it? Read on.
First, the entire kitchen, menu and bakery is gluten free, vegan, organic, and 100% free from GMO’s soy, dairy, peanut, and egg.  Offerings include sandwiches and veggie burgers on house made breads, pizza, soups, chickpea frittatas, and all sorts of stews, noodle dishes and more, adapted from worldwide cuisines. They also offer smoothies, elixirs, snacks and juices. Desserts include both baked and raw options, which are as beautiful as they are delicious. Superfresh! also offers juice cleanses, hosts and co-hosts retreats, and caters events. Cafe owner/chef and holistic health coach Jessica Jean Weston even published her own cookbook!
The place has a cozy, groovy vibe, with the work of local artists on the walls, weekly live music, and food served on locally made pottery. Â There’s even a small retail area devoted to specialty food items, handcrafted gifts, educational materials, and more.
Superfresh! sources ingredients locally whenever possible, with a keen focus on their environmental footprint. Waste is minimized, recycling is maximized, and they even used local lumber for the cafe interior. All takeout containers and utensils are compostable, which we LOVE, because they’re doing a lot of takeout these days.
Outside of quarantine, they’re open every day for breakfast and lunch, with dinner offered Wednesday through Sunday. Current hours are limited with curbside pick-up only.
