Duke’s Bakery, a dedicated gluten-free cafe and bakery, has finally returned to Fall River, Massachusetts. A fire in December 2018 destroyed their original Columbia Street location, but now they’re back, bigger and better than ever.
At the time of the fire, Duke’s owner Chris Holden had just opened a second location in neighboring Dartmouth, so customers could still satisfy their cravings for celiac-safe muffins, breads, sandwiches and more. But the Fall River community REALLY wanted them back.
They’re now open on Davol Street in a brand new renovated warehouse space with a huge kitchen, expanded dining area, bar, wood beams, exposed brick, and a totally hip vibe.
Oh, but the menu. The place is 100% gluten free with a menu that’ll make you feel like you’re normal again. Breakfast includes Build-a-Bowl with or without eggs and a huge list of toppings that range from veggies to meats, vegan sausage and dairy-free cheese. There’s also french toast, home fries and more. Lunch includes burgers, fries (loaded or not), home made mac and cheese, chicken tenders, pizza (almond flour crust available), meatball subs, chicken parm and more.
Oh, but the bakery! Everything is gluten free, with separate cases for nut free dairy free, paleo, keto, soy free, etc. The selection rotates, but you’ll usually find muffins, cupcakes (cheesecake filled!), cookies and more. They’ll take special orders for anything, including special occasion cakes.
Dukes always carries prepared foods to heat & eat or freeze, with some current changes due to Coronavirus. The Dartmouth location is temporarily closed, but the Fall River location is open and selling menu items and family-sized meals to go. Head to their Facebook page to check out the menu and to see what they’ve got already prepared. Duke’s is making this crazy time a whole lot more delicious. Please support them and stay safe, friends.
