Helene Godin, owner of dedicated gluten and dairy-free By The Way Bakery in Greenwich, truly wants us to have the most delicious baked goods. After a 22 year career in law, she decided to change careers to open a gluten-free bakery, and we are so glad she did! The store in Greenwich is her fourth location, and her first outside of New York. From cupcakes to cookies, muffins, scones, tea cakes, layer cakes, mini cakes, rugelach and more, there’s always a wide selection of goodies available. They also make beautiful custom cakes for weddings, mitzvahs, and parties. You can even flip through their book of cake options right at the store. But what is particularly exciting is Helene’s new line of breads. At each of her four locations, you can now get seasoned bread sticks, rolls, and brioche breads that don’t crumble in the toaster, and they are absolutely delicious – we know, because we ate one. All of the stores are certified kosher, and they make challah and other traditional Jewish baked goods, including Passover items.
If you live in or near Greenwich, you’re really lucky. If you don’t, this place is absolutely worth a road trip. And with summer coming, you can stop in on your way to the city, and then stop in again when you get there!
