Gluten-Free High Holidays – We Got This!

We here at GFC know firsthand how hard it can be to find great kosher/tradiitonal grub outside of NYC.  Make it gluten free, and the options narrow significantly.  We looked around the state and found some interesting eats that fit the bill.  There aren’t many, so if anyone’s looking to start a gluten-free challah-making business, we support you.

Crown Kosher Market – West Hartford – They’ve got sliced gluten-free challah and challah twist rolls in their freezer. They also have gluten-free pizzas, pizza dough, rugelach, cookies, doughnuts and more, all kosher.  If there’s an item you’re looking for, they’ll even order it for you.

The Challah Connection – certified kosher mail-order business located in Norwalk, offering all sorts of delicious gift baskets, from baked goods to deli style, for all holidays and occasions. They have an entire celiac-friendly, gluten-free section, including authentic, braided challahs, black and white cookies, babka, and rugelach. Oh my.

Goodman Gluten Free – Bob Goodman’s dedicated gluten-free facility in Madison cranks out delicious and kosher gluten-free goodies which can be found in Big Y, as well as Fresh Markets throughout the state.

Izzi B’s Allergen-Free Balery – Norwalk – Izzi B’s got a huge selection of amazing baked goods, all kosher and free from peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, GMO’s,casein, dairy, soy, cholesterol, and preservatives. She doesn’t have a storefront, but you can do mail order, delivery, or a scheduled pick up,  Gluten-free challah is coming soon!

Joy of Food Caterers – West Hartford – These guys are kosher caterers, they can do gluten free, and are the hands-down local favorite.

Rein’s Deli – Not kosher, but they’ve got loads of Jewish style foods, many gluten free. In their freezer they have challah, bagels, rugelach and more. They are also celiac-friendly, preparing your food in a separate area, to avoid cross-contamination. (approved by Connecticut’s branch of GIG, the Gluten Intolerance Group!)
