The Engine Room has been offering reliably safe, gluten-free dining in Mystic, CT for as long as we can remember. Â How? For starters, their house-made gluten-free burger buns are legendary.
Located inside the restored Lathrop Marine Engine building (with water views!) the rustic industrial style dining room is warm and casual. The menu is decidedly burger and sandwich based, which is perfect, because their gluten-free buns are pure magic. We don’t know what’s in them, but they bake them separately, they prepare gluten-free orders carefully, and WOW. Our server told us that the gluten-free buns are so popular, they’re often requested by non-gluten-free diners as well. (FYI – The buns contain dairy and eggs)
The menu is not huge, and the gluten-free options aren’t numerous, but what they do well, they do really well.
gluten-free options at the Engine Room:
- Sweet potato bisque
- Pan seared scallops
- Burgers (vegetarian options)
- Salads
- Steamed mussels & more…
Ask your server about other gluten-free menu options that might not be listed, or about items that can be adjusted. These guys know when they’re doing. And don’t forget dessert – they make excellent milkshakes, including the Irish Cream Soft Serve (contains alcohol, order without pretzels) or the kid-friendly Cereal Milk Soft Serve with charm marshmallows.
Everyone makes a trip to Mystic at some point, so add The Engine Room to your list. You’ll be glad you did!
