Harvest Cafe – Breakfast for All!

Harvest Cafe and Bakery in Simsbury has been the area’s go-to breakfast spot for years, and for good reason. What folks may not know is that Kim Foster, the owner, is gluten-free. She’s also created an alternative breakfast menu with terrific gluten-free options. From breakfast sandwiches on gluten-free bread to french toast, from berry pancakes to Harvest’s own gluten-free granola, you’ll feel like you’ve died and gone to breakfast. They even have almond milk for your coffee. On the day we visited, we had Liz’s Gluten-Free Flapjacks, which were three multigrain pancakes covered in berries and berry sauce. We also had the granola, the  California Melt breakfast sandwich, and a delicious gluten-free pumpkin english muffin from Pure Love Bakery, just down the road. The gluten-free menu also has french toast, yogurt parfaits, omelettes, and home fries, as well as a gluten-free kids section.  Going for lunch instead? They can put any of their sandwiches on gluten-free bread, and they make delicious gluten-free soups in-house. The menu clearly notes that all items on the menu are prepared next to items containing gluten, but omelettes can be made in separate pans. If you have room for dessert, they offer a rotating selection of treats at the register, some gluten-free. Call for today’s offerings, or to place a special order for a gluten-free cake, cupcakes, or whatever you have in mind. They’ll even make gluten-free wedding favors. Harvest also caters, and can easily adjust their kitchen practices to accommodate orders for more gluten-sensitive folks, with proper notice. Oh, and when you go, say hi to Scott for us. No matter how busy the place gets, he keeps the food moving, the energy positive, and the customers smiling. Gotta love Harvest!
