J.P. Gifford Gets Gluten Free
J.P. Gifford has your gluten free covered in western Connecticut. There’s J.P. Gifford’s Market/Cafe/Catering in Kent, and J.P. Gifford’s Cafe in Sharon, both offering the same delightful gluten-free options. The cafe in Sharon, where we visited, offers both breakfast and lunch, with loads of fun choices. Any breakfast or lunch sandwich can be rolled into a GF wrap, and a whole section of the menu is dedicated to vegetarian options, including a hummus veggie burger and a curried chickpea and eggplant sandwich. If you’re craving something a little different, they also make gluten-free vegetable pad thai with a chicken option, as well as a vegan grain and rice bowl, a delicious combination of red quinoa, brown rice and more. On the more traditional side, they offer smash burgers, store made roast beef, and salads. They also have prepared foods to take home, including salads and meats. The market in Kent, in addition to the same breakfast and lunch menu, is also chock full of gourmet groceries, local items, and prepared foods. Both locations offer coffee and treats, including gluten-free brownies, blueberry muffins, and macaroons. Need to cater a gluten-free event? Call either location.
*The kitchen at J.P. Gifford’s Cafe is not dedicated gluten free. However, when we visited, the staff went out of their way to ensure that our meals were safe from cross contamination. They cleaned surfaces and equipment, and very carefully prepared our food. As always, ask lots of questions and use your best judgement when choosing to eat out. We’re just trying to make it a little easier!
