Passiflora

When we walked into Passiflora in New Hartford, we were welcomed by the aromas of loose tea, herbs, and wholesome food. We already felt healthier, and we hadn’t even eaten yet. Excited to nab a funky table by the window with cushy chairs, we sat down and began to read the multiple chalkboards filled with specials, new additions, and a very long list of vegan and gluten-free desserts. (Yippee!)  We were soon presented with a food menu and a tea menu, and immediately started trying to determine a strategy for tasting everything on both. We settled on two different hot teas, the chicken salad sandwich, and the veggie burger, both on gluten free breads. Considering that the kitchen at Passiflora is tiny, open, and located next to the register, they crank out some really delicious stuff. They describe their veggie burger as the best in town, and we’re happy to say that we totally agree. The menu is filled with other gluten-free and vegan options, such as a house made hummus wrap, quinoa tabouleh salad, tempeh reuben sandwich, and rotating soups, which are usually gluten free and vegan. For dessert, we chose a chocolate mint cupcake, as well as a black bean brownie, both gluten free and vegan. Black beans never tasted so good!  They also make smoothies, both dairy and vegan, they offer healthy eating/cooking classes, host live music, and they cater. For 10 years, Passiflora has been sourcing locally, using no pesticides, fertilizer, or GMO’s. Who’s moving to New Hartford with us?
