You just can’t go wrong with 110 Grill. They’ve got multiple locations throughout New England, and each one has a gigantic GF menu with pretty much anything you want, from burgers to pizza, fried pickles, fried fish, and more.

Barrio Tacos

Barrio Tacos is the only New England outpost of a chain of 12 Barrio Taco restaurants located in OH and MI. The menu is super clear with GF, vegan and vegetarian options, and they’re super careful in the kitchen. (Most of the menu is inherently gluten free anyway.) They even do brunch on weekends!

As you might have guessed, BRGR Bar serves burgers; great burgers. But you might not have guessed that they also offer a vegan Caesar salad with nut-based cheese, and vegan jackfruit tacos. All burgers can be made on GF buns, and the milkshakes are stellar. The fryers are NOT dedicated gluten free, but this is a fun place with good drinks and a fun vibe.

You can never go wrong with tapas and wine, which is exactly what Cava serves. Most of the menu is inherently gluten free, but be sure to ask about specifics. There’s very little gluten used in the kitchen, making Cava a celiac fave.

Durbar Square offers Indian/Nepali cuisine, and most of the menu is inherently gluten free. Everything is marked with gluten-free and vegan labels, including unique offerings like wild boar ribs, Shrimp Tarkari, Lamb Tass, as well as many vegetarian options.

Can’t ever go wrong at Flatbread. They’ve got multiple locations throughout New England, and are widely known to be super safe, with vegan options. The menu is limited to just pizza and salad, but you won’t care. They use the awesome Peace of Mind crusts, and often carry Gluten-Free Territory desserts, as well.

The Goods is a locally owned market & cafe offering breakfast and lunch, with breakfast served all day. Nearly everything on the menu can be made gluten free, from breakfast sandwiches to stir fries, bowls, sandwiches, salads and more. GF bagels, wraps and bread available. Kids menu as well.

Green Elephant serves up Asian-inspired vegetarian cuisine. The menu has many clearly-marked gluten free (and vegan) choices, including coconut soup, Asian stir-fry veggies and tofu, hot & sour noodle soup, Panang curry, tofu Tikka Masala…the list goes on. They’re not a dedicated gluten free kitchen, but are super careful about cross-contamination. Fun fact: They own the Green Elephant in Portland, ME as well!

Izzy’s is located on what might be the busiest corner of Portsmouth. where orders are taken from a doorway counter. They have a huge list of flavors, with gluten-containing flavors clearly marked with a “G.” They offer vegan flavors as well. Be sure to ask for a clean scoop.

The Kitchen is the perfect spot for sandwiches, burgers, and pasta. Nearly everything on the menu can be made gluten free, from Reubens, BLT’s, and tuna, to beef burgers, lamb burgers, and duck burgers. They’re super duper careful in the kitchen, and we love that. *GF pasta dishes take a little longer because of separate pots.

Experience a taste of Paris in Portsmouth! La Maison Navarre offers various kinds of gluten-free buckwheat crepes, both savory and sweet, and they can prepare them safely. They also make the best GF macarons around, along with soups, salads & a wine and cheese shop. Go for the food and the experience!

Need takeout or a quick meal? Head to Lexi’s. They can put any of their burgers on a GF bun, including black bean burgers for non-meat eaters. Order a specialty burger or build your own, with a chicken option as well. They also have dedicated fryers for fries, although their fried fish is NOT gluten free. Try a shake for dessert, but order it without the cookies. This is a hot spot for GF and non-GF folks alike.

Martingdale Wharf kinda has it all. Nearly the entire menu is clearly marked with GF options, from dedicated gluten-free fryers for seafood , wings, and truffle fries, to Vietnamese spring rolls. All of the sides are gluten free, there’s a raw bar, plenty of amazing seafood entrees, sandwiches and more, and they’re super careful in the kitchen.

(Breakfast is served all day) They make and store their GF popovers separately, which is key. They also offer a variety of sandwiches, soups, salads, and even GF quiche. If you want an incredible GF breakfast or lunch and feel like a 20 minute drive outside of Portsmouth, head to Tucker’s in Dover. With 6 locations in New Hampshire, Tucker’s has a huge GF breakfast & lunch menu, dedicated fryers, and are super careful in the kitchen.

Vida Cantina is an excellent choice for Mexican in Portsmouth. The menu is super-clearly labeled with GF, vegan, and vegetarian options. The taco choices are really unique, including shrimp, fried avocado, Korean BBQ tempeh and more. There are also enchiladas and entrees.

Need a quick or informal meal, or just craving wings? Wing-itz is IT. They use only corn flour on their boneless wings, and they offer GF bone-in wings as well. 360 Sugar Free is essentially a keto store. (Everything that’s keto is also gluten free.) Their kitchen is dedicated gluten free, where they produce amazing baked goods for purchase & shipping (some dairy free too). They also sell lots of hard-to-find keto and sugar-free pre-packaged products, but do check labels, as some may contain gluten or have warnings.

Anju Noodle Bar offers “free-style Asian cuisine.” The menu is eclectic and interesting, with clearly marked GF and vegan options. Many items are inherently GF,  and some can be made that way. A very popular spot.

Who doesn’t love donuts? Lovebirds is a 100% vegan facility, which already makes them awesome. Although they’re not dedicated GF, they do make GF donuts in a separate area and in a dedicated fryer.  They’ve developed a but of a cult following, and for good reason.

TacoCat is a dedicated gluten-free taco truck offering a small but mighty menu, using Vermont Tortilla Co. corn tortillas and sides. Check their social media for updates!
